Destination Wedding Planning – Is it Really Difficult Planning a Wedding?
Destination Wedding Planning is Not Easy
What could be harder than planning a wedding? Try destination wedding planning and you will soon find out. Destination weddings are wonderful, and often right in line with the personality of the husband and wife to be, but they are much harder to organize and plan. Don’t let that stop you from having the wedding of your dreams, though. Just know it may be a bit more of a headache than you thought the wedding planning would be. So, when it comes to destination wedding planning, you need to give yourself plenty of time and find someone you trust to give you a hand when you feel overwhelmed.
Tips on Destination Wedding Planning
Destination wedding planning is harder than planning your local wedding because you have to do everything long distance and you have to worry about the logistics of getting no only you and your intended there, but those that you love as well. Before you get started, you should consider getting a wedding planning checklist, which can really help with your planning. You have to know that there are going to be people that can not afford to go, especially if it happens to be an expensive beach wedding. If it is important for them to be there, then that may be a cost you are going to have to handle. This is why many destination weddings are smaller than local weddings. Not everyone is going to have the money, or even the time, to go away for your wedding ceremony, even if they want to go.
Destination Wedding Planning – Choosing a Location
The first part, and maybe the hardest part, of destination wedding planning is figuring out where you wish to be married. You may know an area, but finding the venue may be a bit tricky, especially when you have no idea how many people are going to be able to come. You may want to call everyone you want to invite to get an idea of how many people can come or think they can come, and then call around to find the perfect wedding destination spot. This number will change, but having an estimate is better having no idea what so ever.
Once you have that done, you are going to have to find vendors for all of your wedding needs. This means spending a lot of time online with the wedding planning and then on the phone with florists, photographers, video photographers, caters, and wedding officiants to get everything together. This part of destination wedding planning is hard because you can not visit these people in person. You may be able to find some good wedding packages by going online and visiting their web sites, which is helpful. If you can find a venue that includes all of these things in a wedding package, then you can take a lot of the work out of finding the right people for these jobs.
Destination wedding planning includes making travel accommodations for everyone going, including yourself. Some guests won’t mind making their own plane reservations, but you may have to find a hotel so that everyone is close to where they need to be. When planning a destination wedding, be prepared to make a lot of extra phone calls to find out who needs tickets and also to the airline to get people there on time. It can certainly be a headache to plan a destination wedding, but most brides find that once the wedding day is over that it was all worth it because they had the wedding of their dreams with those that love them the most by their sides.
